Ware, William Henry FWW Regimental Number 931656
William Henry Ware and his twin sister Mildred were Sheep Creek Alberta in 1898. William had 4 sibling other siblings including, Arthur born in 1897, Amanda Janet (Nettie) born in 1893, Robert Lewis born in 1894, and one other child that died in infancy. Both his parents died in 1905 and he and his siblings moved in with their grandparents, the Lewis’.
On November 24, 1916, William enlisted in Canada’s segregated No 2 Construction Bn at Calgary. His attestation papers list William’s occupation as a “Teamster”. In his military file he lists his grandmother as Mrs. D.V. Lewis as “Next of Kin” and noted that both his parents were deceased.
William died at just 35 years old.
His obituary stated WILLIAM J. WARE:
“Native-born Albertan, William James Ware, 35 years of age, 414 Second avenue northeast, died in a local hospital Tuesday after a long illness. He was born in Brooks [sic], and had resided in Calgary for a number of years. He leaves two brothers, Arthur at Vulcan, and Robert in Calgary, and two sisters, Janet and Mildred at Vulcan.”
